Westlake Village Community Park
A 20-acre sports park has claimed its place in the middle of an unused hillside. Moving more than 2 million cubic yards of soil yielded 9 acres of leveled ground for three lighted soccer fields, three lighted softball/baseball fields, in-ground skatepark, children’s play area, a perimeter walking/jogging trail, and picnic facilities, concessions and maintenance building. Synthetic turf will lower operational costs and conserve water, while the slopes have drought-tolerant and native species to blend into the adjacent oak woodland foothills.
Plus, since the park is a partnership with the YMCA, visitor also have access to a pool and other amenities. Working with the City from finding the site through to construction documents allowed the construction to be planned in phases, as funding was available.
