Richmond Park Playground Renovation
Imagine going to a park in the City and finding a bear! That’s what happy kids will now find in the recently renovated Richmond Playground. The Sierra Mountains-inspired concept includes a bear play structure and challenging climbing rock for school-age children, with the California state flag flying above as a landmark. For preschoolers, the park offers swings, a hill slide and a sand play area. Log seating, boulders, native plants and vine retreats for imaginative play complete the landscape.
MIG led public engagement efforts and guided the playground’s redesign into a more playful and fully accessible community space. The renovation is part of the larger Let’sPlaySF! Initiative, a partnership between the San Francisco Parks Alliance and the Recreation and Park Department, that aims to inspire creativity and play throughout the City.
