Port of Oakland/Oakland Airport/Oakland Seaport Web Design and Development
The Port of Oakland operates the Oakland Seaport and Oakland Airport, and manages commercial real estate along the Oakland waterfront, including the popular Jack London Square retail area.
As part of a comprehensive website contract, MIG designed and rebuilt three flagship Port domains:
The result is a seamless, engaging and mobile-friendly user experience that showcases the Port’s dynamic brand, “Everyone’s Port.”
As a regional hub for travelers flying into and out of the Bay Area, Oakland Airport’s website has to be easy to navigate and provide quick access to critical information. A flight status feature now provides real-time flight updates. A parking occupancy gauge offers real-time parking availability, making it easier to book parking spots. The site highlights dining and shopping opportunities at the airport, as well as local attractions for visitors, and a dedicated section for employment and local businesses interested in becoming airport concessionaires.
The Oakland Seaport is the busiest container port in the Bay Area, and the ninth busiest in the nation, processing over 2 million containers each year. It’s directly responsible for 73,000 local jobs, and has an impact on over 827,000 jobs nationwide, making it a regional economic engine. Ensuring its ongoing vitality requires maintaining clear and consistent communication with diverse stakeholders, from shipping companies and freight haulers to maritime facilities and local communities. The dynamic new customer-facing website provides essential information for businesses interested in working with the Seaport, including status reports on major projects like shipping channel widening and zero-emissions environmental efforts.
For the Port of Oakland site, MIG created a simple and clean navigation that provides clear information about the airport, seaport, waterfront, and environmental stewardship. A dynamic list of projects provides
updated information about how the Port is modernizing its infrastructure and operations.
The redesigned websites include robust content management systems and strategic use of faceted filtering and searching, ensuring the sites are visually appealing and highly functional for travelers, businesses and the community—a visual representation of the region’s indispensable economic assets.
