Playhouse Village Park

The Art of Urban Play

The artsy Playhouse Village area of Pasadena is home to the renowned Pasadena Playhouse, along with museums, galleries, eateries, and multifamily housing—populated with young families, urban professionals and senior citizens. But the community lacked gathering and play space.

Playhouse Village Park, the first new urban park in the City in decades, transformed an abandoned bank building and its unused parking lot into a delightful 1-½-acre vibrant community space.

The park is designed around a central green space, oriented toward a shade trellis and performance stage. A universally accessible children’s play area, dog run, historic fountain and holiday tree sit amongst native landscaping and canopy shade trees. The park is augmented with a concession building and parking plaza to accommodate larger community events.

The park rejuvenates a dense urban environment, providing physical, emotional and mental health and wellness, and fostering a sense of community through gathering and play for all ages.
