Ogden Onboard TOD Planning

Connecting to the Future

There’s excellent access to higher education and a major medical campus, a strong and historic downtown and proximity to world-class outdoor recreation. But these key destinations weren’t well connected—until “Ogden Onboard.”

After the City decided on a preferred alignment for bus rapid transit connections, it needed a vision, design concepts and action plan for transit-oriented development around key station areas.

The MIG team provided a full package of services: graphic design and communications to support widespread outreach and involvement, urban planning and design to address station area concepts and regulatory barriers, market and transportation analysis to better address existing conditions and potential solutions, and highly interactive and inclusive meeting facilitation and design charrettes.

The Ogden Onboard vision is helping secure federal funding for transit investments and is informing future neighborhood plans, including the Southeast Ogden Community Plan and development plans including a Transit-Oriented Development at Ogden Station, one of the key opportunity sites identified in the Study.

Perhaps most importantly, the extensive community involvement process and resulting vision has generated wide-spread support for improved transit, redevelopment, and active transportation improvements in Ogden.

The project received an APA Utah Achievement Award.
