Murray City Parks and Recreation Master Plan

Thriving in the Park

Murray City is smack-dab in the middle of the greater metropolitan area of Salt Lake City. At just 9.6 square miles, it’s pretty much built out with commercial, residential, industrial and civic uses. But, parks, arts and recreation are also vital to Murray City’s identity and community livability.

Its new Parks Master Plan is visionary and goal-oriented, yet realistic and achievable. It defines a new vision, mission and goals, and documents the policies, recommendations and funding strategies needed to enhance the park and recreation system. And it was developed working directly with residents, stakeholders, partners and community leaders who identified changing community needs and the park projects and recreation services they want in the future.

The Plan is a long-term investment in community assets and values, with key recommendations that guide a phased action plan for implementation over 10 years. And, it will help prioritize future investments in the projects and services that will enhance the community’s quality of life and ensure that the City and its residents continue to thrive.
