Golden Eagle Sports Complex

The Grass Here is Always Greener

This complex is one of the largest single installations of synthetic turf in the U.S. The City urgently needed a sports park for its growing Spanish Springs area, which meant a fast-track design process and careful construction phasing to avoid disrupting scheduled activities.

The City now has a multi-sports complex, with 13 fields of youth and adult sports fields. A five field wagon wheel is ideal for adult recreation softball, youth fast pitch softball and is the barrage of local, regional and national tournament play. An adjacent, sixth stand-alone field is home to tournaments. The fields surround a two-story 7,200 sq. ft. restaurant building that anchors the complex and includes a lower concession stand, restrooms, office and retail space. Plus shade shelters, picnic tables, volleyball courts, bocce ball and children’s play areas. And the crown jewel is the 3,500 sq. ft. upper floor restaurant with sweeping views of the fields and surrounding landscape.

The park is 140 acres of a 450-acre parcel on Bureau of Land Management (BLM) land, where desert-style landscape, hooded lighting and synthetic turf save 42 million gallons of water per year; critical savings in a drought-prone area.

Hundreds of teams come to play, restaurants are bustling, job have been created and the surrounding economy is benefiting.
