Euclid Avenue Master Plan

Welcome to the Neighborhood!

A half-mile of vacant and commercial parcels with three hazardous waste sites, mixed with single family homes and schools. Not a good mix. The Master Plan creates a welcoming roadway that enhances connectivity to residential areas, schools and parks, as well as shopping and other commercial activities. Community members in the surrounding Encanto neighborhood asked for increased transit service (based on the nearby Market Trolley Station), bike lanes, safer pedestrian facilities and traffic calming. Class II bike plans will replace parking on the west side, curb extensions and a landscaped media will improve pedestrian crossing of the 4-lane roadway, increased roadway and pedestrian lighting will enhance walking and biking, and a community-designed gateway welcomes you to the neighborhood. The plan also updates the mix of land uses and building densities, increasing community-serving retail and hosing, and emphasizing pedestrian-scale improvements.

The project was funded by a Caltrans Transportation Planning Grant for Environmental Justice.
