Assiniboine Park Zoo Journey to Churchill

Journey Through 600 Miles

Within a space of just 10 acres, visitors are transported across 600 miles and through four completely different ecosystems as they “Journey” between Winnipeg and the Town of Churchill, the “Polar Bear Capital of the World.” Visit with seals, watch polar bears swim, immerse into natural environments, and learn about the various animals that make the area their home. The environments capture the impacts of climate change on the plants, animals and people of the north.

The Gateway to the Arctic Building and the International Polar Bear Conservation Center are both LEED Silver Certified. The project is a collaboration between the Zoo, Manitoba Conservancy, Parks Canada, University of Manitoba and the Churchill Northern Studies Centre.
