“Outstanding works of landscape architecture and environmental planning.” Two MIG projects received 2024 ASLA Oregon Design Awards, celebrating professional excellence for projects in Oregon and beyond.
An innovative plan to tame a living river, The Chehalis Basin: The Local Actions Non-Dam (LAND) Alternative, received the Honor Award in Analysis & Planning/Research, and the Green Ribbon Honor Award, which is given by the Biodiversity and Climate Action Committee to projects that help advance the profession and support ASLA’s Climate Action Plan. MIG led the project management, engineering and design, land use, urban design, community engagement and facilitation, and communications for the Plan. We also thank our partner firms Stillwater Sciences, ECONorthwest, Stowe Development & Strategies, Northwest Hydraulic Consulting and GEOEngineers for their work on this plan. Hidden Creek Park West, with its “Woods Gone Wild” theme, received the Oregon ASLA Award of Excellence. It features an enormous, climbable Forest Giant who has emerged from the woods. The fully accessible park is full of secret spaces, physical challenges and tactile sensory experiences. MIG was the prime consultant and landscape architect, led the community engagement and provided irrigation design. Our thanks to KPFF, R&W Engineering, Structural Nexus, Morgan Holen, DCW, FFA, P&C Construction and Earthscape who helped take the inclusive play park from concept to reality.
