Heritage Road Interchange

Visualizing Transportation Solutions

Drivers traveling through the interchange at 6th Avenue and Heritage Road had endured years of stress-inducing traffic jams—while bicyclists and pedestrians often felt unsafe. The new interchange incorporates improved pedestrian and bike trails that are separated from cars and trucks via underpasses. It also includes a grade-separated park space and wildlife crossing, similar to the one at 19th Street and 6th Avenue, a mile north of Heritage Road. The improved vehicle connectivity now also resolves the congestion issues.

Key to stakeholder and community understanding and approval of the complex and massive infrastructure project were MIG’s 3D models that translated highly technical engineering drawings into easy-to-understand visualizations.
