Hidden Creek Park West
This playground and park was designed for people of all ages, all abilities, all backgrounds, all orientations—and all of the other “alls” that connect, create and strengthen the Hillsboro community.
Throughout the playground and park’s 11.45 acres, visitors can participate in all sorts of play, community gathering, and intergenerational experiences. The primary goal, though, is for everyone to have fun and feel a deep sense of belonging.
In the play area, the community-driven “Woods Gone Wild” theme is in full swing. The focal point is a large Forest Giant who has emerged from the woods and is now relaxing in a forest meadow. Inspired by the community’s love for nature and its dedication to preserving the existing trees, this gentle giant is a climbing structure with play opportunities both inside and around it.
Children are presented with diversity of challenges throughout the park: they can spin, swing, slide, climb, hide, seek, discover and imagine. By themselves, or with others. They can also play with sand and water and other tactile, sensory elements. Those who want quieter, more reflective play can find cozy nooks that are tucked away from the active play zones. Trees and shade structures also offer a space to comfortably relax out of the elements.
