Ocala Downtown and Midtown Master Plans

Faced with a decline in activities and vibrancy, Downtown Ocala needed concerted and effective revitalization initiatives to restore the City’s heart as a dynamic, active environment. Its Downtown Master Plan is a realistic and achievable design and economic development strategy for Downtown Ocala, which included:

• Revitalization strategies, concepts, and real-world pro forma analysis for six identified catalytic sites, and identified other opportunity sites
• Market analysis and prioritized actions, programs and activities
• Prototype designs that explained potential site development options
• Design and development standards and guidelines
• Mixed-use development menu for existing and potential development sites

Broadening out, MIG then prepared a Master Plan for the Midtown area. New projects, businesses and programming are repositioning the area  as an experience that capitalizes on its central location as hub of activity for the region. This Plan define Midtown’s long-term role, established how the area will complement the larger city center, envisioned strategic uses of catalytic development sites, created a framework for safe and comfortable connections between these sites and other great Downtown assets; and designed public spaces that welcome both residents and visitors. It’s a guide for the area as a livable and connected neighborhood, a thriving center of arts and culture, and a hub of retail and entertainment options.
