Wayfinding and Signage for African Adventure

This Way to the Safari!

When families explore 12 acres of savanna habitat through a network of trails and viewing areas, good wayfinding is a must. Drawing on the unique cultural patterns, colors and forms of Eastern Africa, the wayfinding enhances the overall immersive experience, while guiding visitors through the exhibit.

Starting with a prominent entry sign and orientation map, the distinctive signage system directs visitors to unique sites like the giraffe feeding platform and other areas for up-close encounters and personal interactions with the animals. Strategically placed interpretive signage enhances the user experience and challenges visitors to compare their own abilities with the special adaptations of African animals, such as racing a cheetah, leaping like gazelle or climbing like a colobus monkey. The comprehensive, integrated signage and wayfinding ensures a memorable experience for everyone.
