UCLA Conference Center, Guest Center and Transit Gateway
Scholars gathering to exchange ideas. Innovators discussing cutting-edge breakthroughs. And parents visiting their children! All find an environment for learning, engagement, rest and rejuvenation at UCLA’s Meyer and Renee Luskin Conference and Guest Center, a premier hotel and meeting destination right on the campus.
AHBE/MIG’s landscape design emphasizes the arrival experience and integrates with the surrounding UCLA landscape to enhance visual and physical campus connections. Drought-tolerant palettes of California, California-friendly and Mediterranean plants minimize water use and heighten landscape resiliency. The main entry features two courtyards shaded by twelve specimen olive trees, which connect the interior spaces for dining, pre-functions and meeting rooms. The landscape weaves into a new transit plaza—a major campus entry for pedestrians and public transit riders— and includes brick entry walls and pilasters, a decorative brick promenade with seating, a grove of Virginia oak trees and new bus shelters.
The Center has been recognized with a LEED Platinum certification from the U.S. Green Building Council and an Award of Excellence in Sustainability from the Los Angeles Business Council.
