Urban Land Institute–SF Strategic Plan
As the Bay Area’s leading organization dedicated to responsible and sustainable land use, the Urban Land Institute–San Francisco’s (ULIsf) Strategic Plan is helping move public discourse past gridlock towards using development and planning as tools to build a more sustainable future for residents and businesses in the Bay Area.
To help advance ULIsf’s mission and strengthen its role, MIG’s strategic planning process involved research, interviews, working sessions and a members’ survey to confirm core values and priority issues, as well as opportunities where the organization might have the greatest impact on the Bay Area’s future sustainability and development.
The Strategic Plan established four goal areas: land use practices, educational opportunities, professional development, and future insights and solutions. The plan also includes organizational initiatives to improve operations and plan implementation, with measurable indicators and targets for monitoring performance.
The Plan’s success was demonstrated in ULIsf’s FY2018 Impact Report, which presented the organization’s progress and accomplishments: Highly attended educational programs; a Housing the Bay Summit; the Women’s Leadership Initiative; the Young Leaders Group; and hundreds of volunteer hours donated by ULIsf members to engage and educate high school students, local public officials and nonprofits.
