Envision Alachua Community Planning

This innovative community planning process was funded by Weyerhauser, the largest private landowner in the nation, to explore potential development opportunities for its Alachua County lands, in alignment with community needs. The strong collaboration between the public and private sectors built trust among a very diverse group of stakeholders and created a true community-based vision for economic development, environmental conservation and green space, education and infrastructure. The City of Hawthorne has embraced the vision and sees it as a catalyst for attracting quality jobs to their community—development there is currently moving through the entitlement process.
