Production Manager

We are seeking an experienced Production Manager to join our multidisciplinary communications and media team—our in-house full-service ad agency—in our Berkeley office. This role requires coordinating with project managers, project associates, our creative team, administrators, business office—a diverse team of professionals, including clients—to help manage project tasks, budgets and schedules to deliver high-quality work products in a fast-paced environment. The Production Manager may also manage projects themselves. The ideal candidate will have the ability to think critically and creatively, work as part of a collaborative team, while maintaining a sense of humor.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborative Teammate: You will work as part of a cross-office, cross-discipline team that provides communications and marketing campaigns for public sector and corporate clients. You will play an integral role in building strong project teams—assigning and facilitating incoming work, oversee project traffic among team members, point person and liaison across the firm for workflow and questions related to team capabilities and capacity, and ensuring our team meets project deadlines by prioritizing and managing workloads.
  • Project Work: You will support the project traffic/production in the communications and media department by running a weekly traffic/production coordination meeting; prioritizing and managing artist workloads throughout the week; coordinating with freelancers (as needed); overseeing print production, fabrication and implementation of campaign materials and media plans; build systems and processes to streamline workflow and encourage internal communication and collaboration; serve as a project manager and assist Project Managers in creating and managing project schedules and budgets for specific creative deliverables; provide ongoing support across the team and project workflow to keep our “trains running on time.”
  • Project Types: The projects you will typically coordinate will involve graphic design and production, website design, strategic planning, writing, editing, multimedia production, media plan implementation, and book design and production.
  • Administrative and Accounting Support: In addition, you will have a keen understanding of business operations to successfully manage contract administration documents and coordinate with our accounting team to get projects set up in our invoicing system; manage and process vendor invoices; coordinate with Project Managers to complete and update entries to Resource Planning; and contribute to the Financial Health Report in coordination with Project Managers.

MIG works on projects nationwide and some evening or weekend work may be required to meet deadlines. MIG encourages a work-life balance, and these excess hours can be offset during the week when possible.

Qualifications

To accomplish the responsibilities of a production manager, you will have some combination of the following qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in any field, but marketing or graphic design is desirable
  • A minimum of five years of experience in a graphic design, ad agency or other creative studio environment
  • Relevant workload-balancing/traffic/production experience in communications, media or a closely related field
  • Able to produce and/or facilitate the development of high-quality work products and contribute to workplace productivity, efficiency and performance
  • Communicative, organized, efficient and high attention to detail
  • Be autonomous and work independently or as part of a team to complete projects on tight deadlines
  • Comfortable and adept with numbers, proficient at tracking and managing project budgets
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • An adaptable teammate who is willing to pitch in and help others
  • Have a sense of urgency and responsibility/dedication/accountability to ensure tasks are carried through to completion and in a timely manner
  • Professional demeanor, positive attitude with a desire and willingness to learn
  • Software proficiency in Google G-Suite, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe Creative Suite. Experience in Deltek Vision software and Monday.com is a plus.

Compensation is commensurate with skills and experience. This is a full-time, hourly position with eligibility for overtime pay. The pay range for this position is $35-45/hour, commensurate with skills and experience. Candidates may be required to take a skills assessment in Excel, coordination, graphic production, and/or writing.
